Partnership with Parents

Your role as your child's first and most important educator is highly valued here and your input into the running of the nursery is very important to us.  We actively seek your feedback through our parents' evening, questionnaires and other events.

Parenta Footsteps 2

We use Footsteps to record observations and to take photos and videos of the children.  As a parent you will have a unique code enabling access your child's journal at anytime.  You will be able to see their progress, observations that have been added and any photos of them that have been uploaded. This is a completely secure system.

Settling in Visits

When children start with us they are introduced to nursery life gradually through several pre-start visits. The first visits will last for approximately thirty minutes and you are asked to stay for the duration of the visit. This allows your child to become familiar with their new surroundings and means you can spend time getting to know their Key Worker.  The second visit will also be short but we invite you to leave the room so that your child can spend some time on a one to one basis with their Key Person. The visits are then gradually lengthened until both you and your child’s Key Person feel confident that they are settled.  We find that children usually settle quickly in our caring and nurturing environment.

Parents Workshops

Throughout the year we hold Parent Workshops. These take place in the evening and focus on subjects such as weaning, potty training or school transitions. We will give short presentation and ' Top Tips' on the subject and will often have outside guest speakers. The workshops offer you a chance to discuss any worries or offer advice and are a great way of getting to know other parents.

Annual Events

The whole nursery joins together for several events over the year.

Our Family Picnic takes place in June in our Grassy Area, where families can relax and get to know each other.

For those children leaving us to move onto school we mark the occasion with a Preschool Graduation in July, celebrating their time with us with a special tea party for children and parents.

Our Christmas party with Songs around the Christmas Tree are loved by the children.  We invite families to share in the fun and join us for light refreshments.

We are involved in the two major Penshurst Village summer events namely the Great Penshurst Duck Race and the Village Fete. At both events we can be found running children's stalls and face painting. These village events always have a lovely feel to them and we are proud of our long and close association with them.
